I have an old John Deere 112, and i am looking to buy a new engine, does a K181 fit in the place of a k241, or even better will a k301 fit in place of a k241. Could sombody pleas help me, I need to plow snow

Measure mounting hole centers on 241(side to side,fr to back)also measure shaft dia & length and height of centerline from bottom of pan,the k241-321 all share the same block,I think the 181 is a smaller block, also check mounting holes as to how 241 bolts to frame, some tractor mfg used stock pan as supplied by kohler, wheel horse posssibly jd and several others had 2 blind/tapped holes into internal reinforcement webs of pan for fr mounts(on bottom of pan) so eng could be mounted on narrow frame tractor or mounting plate, also a lot of eng as supplied to tractor mfg to their specs had a 1/8" larger shaft than stock replacement engs sold by kokler.

k181 is a small block,k241 is a big block. k301 and k241 basically have the same outside demensions, but each engine came with different bolt pattern oil pans and crankpto,as well as holes drilled in pto side of block that may or may not matter to you.. i bored a k241 to a k301 . just had to hone the piston pin hole in the rod to fit the larger pin and away i went..lucas

I am gonna put in one of those air cooled chinese, I will have to mod it a little but but i think that it will come out pretty well

I know where there's a 446 Case with a bad Onan in it that I can buy for $150.00 that would be a good candidate for that. Let us know how that cames out.
