Oh my!

You think that wasn't a time gettin' that joker out of there? Uff-Da!!

Anyhoo, finally got the separater beater out thru the roof. At one time the gear had spun on the shaft and totally ruined the the darned thing. So, a "Add-a-gear" was just welded to it.

Promptly threw both the beater and the shaft in the iron pile, yanked the raddle door and cob shield so I can easily get at that chain. It's destination is gonna be the iron pile also.

If the false floor is still sound, maybe I can then start back the other direction. Never in my life seen a machine with so much "goody" used up. :>(

Can't help but notice Allan.

But I think you need about every moving part there is on that combine.

And some parts that don't even move.

Besides all the drive belts and chains.

Boy oh boy you got your work cut out for you on this one.

Allen, the owner or owners of that combine between your "regimes" probably felt that they go a helluvalot of good service out of it. They were just more in to usage than reconditioning (or maybe even into repairing). You will no doubt have a nice machine when you're finished. Bet you won't be letting anybody else drive it much.

One thing about it, if and when I ever do find something that is still good and usable, it will be a bonus. :>)

Still looking tho. You ought to hear those big main shaft bearings growl. They've been bad for a long, long time. :>(

I can't help but think ,Allan,....it might have been a lot easier (and cheaper) to have just moved the serial number plate from the old girl to a F2 in mush better better shape!!!LoL.

Oh yeah, for sure,

Every once in awhile, I'll be working along and stop and ask myself, "What in the Sam Hill are ya doin'? This thing is a total wreck!"

Then, I just stop and remember the way it used to be and I'm good to go again.

I really am having a good time tho. This ol' sister is gonna scream again. Just hope the old piggy bank hold to the pressure. :>)

You gonna have a new shaft made up by a machine shop or just find a used one? Doesn't look too complicated to make new...

Are those square blocks welded to the shaft (1st picture) or?

Yeah,

Talked to a fella last night and I might have a line on a good used one.

Those square shoulders are what the vanes of the beater are clamped to. They drive the rotation of the thing.

That kind of weird, since on the thresher beater behind the cylinder, they use a square shaft and bolt the vanes to it. This one, I"ve never had out. And now I understand what you were saying about the weldasprocket- nothing to salvage there.
