Kubota MX5100

Any good or bad experiences? Looks kinda small and squshed up to be 50hp. And that may not be bad. I would use 95% for bush hogging, actually pasture clipping byhalia grass and such.. Hadn't seen one in person yet..I see on line that they did the turbo charge thing for emissions reasons.

Its a small light 50 hp tractor, gear tranny. The old engine was from a long lived series and found a home in several tractors and skidsteers and was well respected. Sure these new tier 3 diesels will have a few growing pains but there's nothing too crazy about them, a little exhaust gas recirc that may get plugged and some retarded injection timing etc.

It is about the right size for a mounted 5 ft hog or bigger trailed. It turns sharp. Its short wheel base means you don't want to be driving too fast in rough fields. There is a strong loader available for it.

The tranny is simple, a gear type with a shuttle I believe.

If you are really tall, you may find the seat a touch close to the wheel like all japanese tractors.

I have a MX 5000 with about 400 or so hours on it, gear tranny with a shuttle shift. Bush Hog loader and rear remotes. Its done everything from run a 6" finish mower, move a truck load of #57 or larger gravel, to mowing raking and baling hay with both a square baler and a Vermeer 504 I baler. Only problem that I"ve had is the throttle cable breaking which cost about 20 bucks and about 15 mins to put back on. my only gripe is the short wheel base but were I"ve got so many hills to deal with I don"t go running up and down them any ways....

I have become a Kubota fan having had an M6800 for 8 years. (Bought it new) Bought it mostly because my neighbor, who had sold his New Holland after much, much trouble, bought one. He has about 3000 hours on his and it still runs like new. They use it every day of the year. Mine gets babied in comparison. Carver Kubota has a new MX5100, 4wd, shuttle, R4 tires, LA844 ldr, w/bucket MSRP $26147 your cost $22998. Check with them (EMail) they might give a better price than that. Gives you an idea of about how much one should cost. At that price, he's only discounting about 12%. I think you can do better.

Thanks for the info. I had fully intended to ge see one this past weekend but just had too much else to do.

I think the 5100 is exactly what I want. I just don't need 4WD. I know I would if I was using a loader a lot or something like that. I hadn't made it to look at one in person yet..Thanks for the input.

Thanks for the info. You are right, Kubotas are really tough machines. I have a friend who has a 65 or 75 hp and a 100 hp he uses hard in the hay baling business. He maintains his stuff to the T like I do but he has had no problem whatsoever that I am aware of. I think I will check with Carver.. Thanks again..

Hey Tom. Southern Tractor in Hattiesburg has an MX 5000 with 51 hours on it. It does have 4wd and R4 tires and some front weights. $15900 asking price. I got that off the John Deere Machine Finder website. They show 4 MX5000s. 2 are 2wd but farther from you.

I own a MX5100. It continues to amaze me each time I use it. I have it posted on http://www.workmytractor.com go check it out and see some photo"s of it in action
