la i just bought doesnt seem to have much vacuum. Any quick fixes? tks

There are several things you might try. The easiest is to give it a give it an hour or so of the heaviest pulling it will handle. If that does not work, then compression tests, valve grinding, head recondition, new sleeves and pistons etc in increasing cost order!

If everything else is ok (magneto giving good spark, timing right, carb has good fuel supply) try a bit of oil in each cylinder to give enough compression to start, then a workout if you can keep it running. Does not sound promising if it will not start.
