Leaking Oil Seals.

I am having continuing problems with oil seal leaks on both rear axles on my Allis Chalmers Model G tractor. The seals were the correct seals and were installed new and installed correctly. A Speedi-Sleeve was used on both axles over the oil seal wear point. What else can be done to correct the problem? All suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.

There probably is a vent that is stopped up, the pressure has to go out the path of least resistance and the seals are the next best place. I have no idea where it would be but look on the top 1/2 of the housing. HTH

I hope that the vent was the problem. next you might want to check the bearing itself. If it's worn, It will take out a seal. also, if there is excessive end play. Is the seal is fully seated in it's boss. Abraisive in the lube? and my favorite, a loose nut behind the WHEEL!

How did the seal, that you removed, look? was it shreadded? worn? oblong?...sl

stevencarol: Thank you for the information on leaky oil seals. New oil seal, new bearing. Seal is properly seated. No contaminated lube, and no excessive end play. I am going to carefully examine the bearing retainers......It may be that the leaks are coming from the retainer bolts??? Thanks again for the info.
