Lean carb

We have a carb that worked fine all season. All of a sudden it seems a bit lean. There is no response from turning the load needle in or out any more either. I"m just a bit baffled on this one.

Should I diss-assemble and look for a blocked passage?

Would ther be a chance that we have an air leak and are sucking air somewhere.

What brand? What Model? Comprehensive accurate data always increases the probability of a correct diagnosis. If it is Farmall get some number drills and go after it.

Go to your local auto parts store and buy a spray can of choke cleaner and simply spray it at the gaskets where teh carburetor mounts and teh intake manifold to the head. If you have a vac leak, it will raise the RPM when you hit the leak. If you get no change, the problem has to be a restriction in the orfices of the carb.

Sorry for the lack of info. It is a marvel schebler carb from an oliver 88

dont forget to check fuel supply. filter, fuel line,or screen in tank all could cause a lean problem.

A Marvel Shebler carb has its name on the float bowl It also has lines front and back of the wording This is your float level Remove the bowl drain and install a barbed brass- ball valve and a clear plastic hose and route it above your bowl open your valve and see how high the gas rises in the plastic tube You can also drain the carb without getting gas all over everything and see if there is moisture in the container you drain into.You can leave open while on a dyno and see if your fuel level drops.
