Strictly for the purpose of tractor fronts is there any tangible difference between using light truck bias ply tires vs trailer bias ply tires?

Depends what kind of tractor and what u are doing. Either one will be the same deal.

The trailer tire supposedly has a stiffer sidewall.

Strictly speaking for tractor front use, it won't make a noticeable difference. When you're putting used truck tires on the front of your tractor it's any port in the storm. Whatever is round and black and holds air.

Truck tires tend to last longer from a rot perspective. Trailer tires can look perfect on the outside but be ready to separate and blow by the time they're 6 years old. Truck tires can look rotten and still be perfect on the inside after 10 years.
