lincoln weldanpower 150

What is the best way to clean the slip rings on a lincoln weldanpower 150 ? I'm thinking that the reason I am not getting any output from either the welder or generator is lack of brush contact on the slip rings and I don't want to damage anything in the process of cleaning them. Advice appreciated ,Thanks

I've had one for 26 years.Had the same problem a few times.I remove the hood crank the engine run at idle. Hold a fine piece of sandpaper under the slip rings,it always makes power after that.Removing the hood is a bear bacause i put a battery box next to it.The last time i cut the hood at the bend on the side an pop riveted a piano hinge there.Works good,take out 4 screws an fold the side up.

Good GOOD info. I have one that gets occasional use and it may someday not work for this reason....

I've heard that you can use a pumice stone. If you use sandpaper make sure to blow it off really good. Never use emery paper because it can cause unwanted arcing. Dave
