Line blowing off at injector?

Here"s a question for the experts. I have a 550 crawler and have been doing some rebuilding. When I purchased it one of the lines leaked on the injection pump. I could not get the line to stop leaking so I replaced it. Then the same line started to leak at the injector. Last time I started it, fortunately with the hood off, it started spraying out around the nut. I took it apart and reassembled everything properly. It then ran about 15 seconds and did it again. Seems that the line is coming out of the ferrule!

What"s going on? Is the new line bad? Is the seat in the injector worn that won"t allow the ferrule to tighten? Is the injector blocked and causing excessive pressure? Sorry about the long post but I"m stumped and more than a little frustrated. I guess I should count my blessings that the turbo wasn"t hot when the line blew.

you could have both problems, but i would bet on the injector being bad if the engine runs rough or have yhou had it running long enough to tell. i don't know if you can pull the injector and crank the engine over or not. if you do, don't put your body parts around the injector. i think its like 2000 psi and will cut you like a knife and get your cut infected to boot. take a close look at the threads on the injector. remove the injector and swap place with another one and see what happens.

had a MF 1155 that would blow the fuel line off every day or so ...finally found that injector had one stopped up spray hole in nozzle....replaced injector solved the problem...Kent

You will probably find the injector is swelled/damaged at the fitting.This usually comes from overtightening the nut trying to stop a leak.You may have to replace the line again also as it has probably been overtorqued distorting the ferrule.

i had a 4230 that would start running rough and then it would blow one of the rubber return lines.when the line would start leaking the tractor would start running smooth again.i found that the return line to tank was stopped up.i cleaned it out and changed the fuel filter and have not had any more trouble
