Loader on MF255 slowly drops while using tractor

Hi Joe,
The first question is whether you loader has double acting lift cylinders. If it has, there may be oil passing from one side of the piston to the other on one or both cylinders. If the loader is operated by a spool valve (lever) make sure that the spool is free and returns to the 'neutral' position every time. The next possibility is that there is a lot of wear in the spool and this allowing oil to return to the transmission. Either with just the loader weight or something in the bucket, disconnect the return line and check for oil leaking back when the engine is switched off. With the engine on you will get the normal return flow.

9 times out of 10, it is the seals in one or both cylinders. Only one has to leak since they are connected together. Best to change all the seals though.
