Hello all just purchased a long 610 4x4 and was just wondering if anyone had any good bad indifferent opinions on the tractor. I also have a Oliver 1255 4x4 and it appears to be virtually the same except the long has 1 more cylinder. Thanks

Pretty much the same tractors except if the Long has the 'square' looking front gearbox rather than one that looks like the one on the 1255 there are almost no parts available for the one the Long has.Like the guy at Import Tractor says if you tear up the front differential on a Long you have a 2WD tractor.

Thanks. I'll have to look at that when I get back to the shop. Previous owner ran it out of fuel and couldn't get it running and gave up on it. Funny cause that's exactly how I acquired the 1255. I've just about got the 610 to fire. Just working the air out of the injector lines now. I changed both fuel filters before I started. As with the 1255 been a long slow process. Word to the wise with these fiat engines. Don't run them out of fuel haha!

They're easy to get started after running them out of fuel just pull them for about 1/2 mile and they'll fire right up(LOL.If its really hard to get started it could be the lift pump getting weak common thing on those Fiats.

That was the other option I was going to do if she didn't want to fire but lift pump appears to be good. It sprays out fuel all over when I was bleeding the lines to and from filters and bleed screws on pump

Not a bad tractor for there times and price they had there issues Much better than the early 445 types. To fix the out of fuel I put a valve on the tank (old inner tube) and used air presser. I have heard parts are getting harder to obtain.

Hi, I have a utb 350. I love it! If you run out of fuel its tricky to bleed lines. Just follow procedure and note there is a small bleed screw on inj pump on back side hard to get at, you need an ignition wrench (can't remember metric size).it seems once you get that running clear, close it and mine will fire right up. Ed will

The lift pump also has a fuel strainer that can get clogged if dirty fuel has been poured into the tank. I've had my Longs lose power and stall out because of the plugged strainer.

I'll have to look at that tomorrow. It appears I've gotten all the air out of the lines but it still won't start. Acts like it's not getting enough fuel to fire. Just enough to smoke some.

Well I got it running but can honestly say I"ve never seen blowby before like his one. After a compression test showing no compression on 3 outta 4 cylinders I tore the motor down. Found on the 3 bad cylinders that the side wall in between the rings was cracked or broken but still enact. More research revealed that the motor had new sleeves and new bearing install in 2003. Miked the cylinders and per service manual hey should be 4.169. The 3 bad cylinders miked 4.013 and the good one miked 4.024. Manual states that new sleeves need to be bored to correct diameter. It appears that the builder missed that step so now it"s my problem. Oh well. Everything else appears to be in great shape so far. Should be great tractor once I get it back together correctly.
