Long 610 update: It was hard to start, had LOTS of blow-by. I got it apart.... busted ring lands on the pistons, cylinders were.... ok. I got new pistons, rings, rod bearings, and a complete gasket set.
I've got the heads surfaced and cleaned up. I honed the cylinders and surfaced the block
🤔
My question is how to clean up the block, what to use to clean it up with? Brake cleaner? Carb cleaner? (not water!?!) Also, I plan to do a flush (oil pump) with diesel/atf mix....?

Just me. I do not think those cylinders look good at all. Should have them bored or replace the liners which ever applies.

I like to use boiling hot water and Dawn dish soap to clean cylinders. They are clean when the cylinders can be wiped with a white cloth and come out clean with no residue at all on the cloth. Then apply a thin coating of clean engine oil to prevent rust.

The cylinder honing has 2 issues The cylinder wear may be excessive for piston clearance and ring survival at the top of the bore, the hone used has rough honing stones and needs to be followed up with 400 grit to finish. Jim
