long mfg. brush hog

i have a long mfg.n.c. inc. brush hog, model i772 or 1772 , serial i425 or 1425 and the shaft broke off from the gear box(d15040) to the blade. i have had my local tractor farm shop try to find me a place to buy a new shaft but they can't find any thing anywhere. can anybody help me with finding a new shaft??? thanks dennis

machine shop may be your quickest fix and may be around same price as new IF you can find a new shaft.
good luck

I do not know where you are located but you may try Rabons inc in Aynor SC (843)358-3590 ask for Denny Carl. They were a Long dealer before long went bust. Denny may either know what will fit have one on the shelf.

If it was me I'd get a aftermarket replacement gear box from Agri-Supply. You might have to redrill some mounting holes but you would have a new box and probably cheaper than a lot of machine shop work done. I've been severly bitten by the local shops around here, the small farmer don't stand a chance everything so bloomin' expensive. bjr

Long Agribusiness parts are still available, if you went to a former Long dealer and they couldn't get it, they can't be gotten, or they weren't trying.
