long wheelbase 1570

I've been wanting to lengthen the wheelbase on my 1570 for years but wasn't 100% sure how to go about it. I knew there was an aftermarket kit that was available years ago for the 12,13,and 1570's, but I was never able to locate one. Well I finally spotted a kit on a salvage tractor over at Rodkey's in Rossville, IN, and a half hour and a hundred bucks later, I was in business. Got it installed this week, along with new tie rod ends and pivot bushings. Moved the axle forward a little over 15" and raised the nose of the tractor about 2". Have to say I like the looks of the tractor a lot better, and should ride better also.

Ande told me he sold quite a few of thse kits I sure he will chime in on this I had never seen one til now thanks, I really always liked the way these tractors looked with the shorter wheel base but am sure the ride differance would be worth it, talk about bringing back memories I loved doing Demo's with 1370's we sold a lot of them and when we sold out the dealership in 76 I ordered in a new 1370 for my new trator to farm with, traded in a 66 1030 for it. I spent a LOT of time in that tractor the next few years as we were farming almost three thousand acres then and I also custom plowed that first year plowed another 1200 acres custom that year I wore out two factory AM/FM 8-track play's that year during those 16-19 hr days seven days a week weather permiting cnt

I just had the cab from your parts tractor at rodkeys put on my 1370 that had a cab fire. I thought it looke different when i looked at the cab but couldnt figure it out... now i know!!!

cn tom , you were loggin some seat time at 16+ hrs , day after day ,never cared to still hear the motor running in my Mind in the still of the nite when i should be asleep .. closest thing i ever come to that was about 1973,, My family ran a 430 Demonstrator round the clock from oil change to oil change plowing in shifts with a heathouser for comfort all nite long .. Tom , .been meaning to ask You .. are you familiar with tethered tractor field tillage work , ,,it would not work here , but i have been thru areas west of the miss- river, where driverless tractors could labor in a circle .. curious of the mechanix involved ,. if you Or Jimmie Phelps OR ANYONE ELSE , are able to show us how its done ,, it would be something to understand ,, this idea originated before ww2 ..

Yeah, Freddy told me they had just taken the cab off of that tractor but I didn't ask why. I got to know those guys pretty good in the early nineties when I was going to Purdue and they were still a Case dealer.

sorry never seen it done around here but I have heard of it, must have been done by someone who didn't have kids, as I got to do all the jobs my dad did not want to do LOL cnt tom

I don't suppose these kits are still available? I have not raised my hand at numerous auctions due to the rough riding short wheelbase tractors. After searching for Simonsen I come up with a place called Premier tools in Peosta, Iowa. Would appreciate any additional info you can provide. Thanks Tom

Dont have serial handy but my 2390 bought new has long factory wheelbase. So there must be factory front ends somewhere.

Part no of big casting used on both 2390----2590---iss A160544. Its for 118 in wheelbase. Short wheelbase tractors were 104 inch wheelbase.

When I worked as mechanic 30 years ago we put a after market front end like this on a brand new 2590. If I remember correctly it only took a couple hours. Looked good.

Wasn't sure if you were replying to my original post or if it was intended for Jimmie D. Phelps post of his fabricated front end, but the 70 series is totally different in design than the 90 series. With the two small cylinders and two short tie rods, as well as the axle mounts being different, don't see how they could be interchangeable. My wheelbase is now 119.5" after the retrofit.

I REMEMBER WORKING ON A SHORT WHEEL BASE 1370 AN REMEMBER HOW HARD TO GET OIL PAN OFF. After looking at your photo i realise the later casting will not work with the short wheelbase tractor. The later long wheelbase front ends had a one long cylinder mounted on them an the pivot pin extended through both pivot points. Any way conversio looks well built. Now that you all have lenghtned the wheel base you might want to put larger oil pan on them. I think capacity was increased to 22 quarts. Not sure of what if any changes to internal pump.

Tom,
I cant remember the name of the company, but I will talk to my old parts manager, and he will know who it was, unless he's forgotten too! It did change the turning radius, but I thought they gave a much better ride. Also that company had a kit to changeover for the battery box so it was attached to the engine frame, and opened like a 90series
