Long winter

Man! I can't believe some of the things nice people say. Must be from a long winter and cabin fever. To be OT, how is your tractor starting on cold mornings? I havn't fired mine up for two months.

Well this winter is one day longer than most of them.
I have not had time to fool around with my tractor for months.. darnit.

I don't have any livestock so I only need to start 706 for snow removal. Have not had to do any of that for a month here in so. Mn.

Winter here is not so mild as the last several- just very close to normal. It"s only February, so snow is still on the ground, not unheard of to get below zero temps of short duration. I don"t understand all the itchiness for "when will Spring be here". Maybe they"re on the metric calendar.

I mostly use the Farmall M for plowing and discing the garden and then baling, so it doesn't get used in the winter. Hopefully when it warms up a little, I'll put a new wiring harness on it and throw in the new battery. Seems there's been a bit of snootyness here lately since the OTy board got canned, but the people talking trash weren't OTy board regulars. Beats me.

Here in the South Central part of Iowa, we had two 12" snows last week, 3 days apart, and the last one was a wet one. Saturday night it was 0 degrees with wind gusts to 38 mph. Sunday, my sis-in-law drove on I-80 from Hiway 21 to Iowa City, about 45 miles, and counted 36 vehicles off the road, some upside down on their tops. FUN!!!

Exactly right. I can't say it's been a tough winter, just worse than the last several.

My back yard has about 8 feet of snow in it. Closer to normal.

I have my tractor a 58 B-311 that I have partly apart right now. Took dash out and bought one to replace. But for somereason I made a mistake and it will not work for mine. shessssss So today I sent mine off to Roger who is taking care of my problem.
Rebuilt my carburator yesterday and can't start the tractor yet. But it sure looks good, clean and ready to go!
Steering wheel is stuck on it. Got nut off and used a fork to bring it up just a bit. But would not go. Guess I need a wheel puller. Then I am going to try and make it a nice looking.
As for weather.... iceing this very minute I am talking to you. Roads a bit slick and snow is coming they say. Cold out there.

In the same boat Itching to get out in the shop but still remodeling the farm house. JD 770 starts ok the case IH will start but the 6 year old battery needs to be jumped

not too bad a winter up in north Maryland. We had some big winds over the weekend and low 30's, so I figured it would be a good time to rake up old grass thatch in some hay fields and mow down short so I can frost seed & fertilize next week or so. It was good getting some seat time again on the trusty MF 165.

I enjoy your post and knew exactly what you were doing with your tractor on the trailer picture the other day. I posted a pic unloading my F20 several years ago. I was on the tractor and started down the ramps and got a couple of nasty grams about not having it chained down. I still haven't figured out how to unload with the chains in place. Solving that almost keeps me awake at night.....

I'm looking forward to your next adventures with the combine. Keep the pictures coming.

Too blasted cold to run the diesels, I didn't dump in kerosene to keep 'em from gellin'.

But my gas 560 starts right up. Usually have to jump it because the battery isn't good, but it pops right away. Sure don't regret the teardown 2 falls ago. A valve seal had broken and made one heck of a ruckus. But she runs great now!

Yep - today is much colder than yesterday. I got working the fields yesterday before the cold front blew in when it was about 30 and temp. dropped to 20 in the afternoon with winds gusts about 45 mph. Real fun on the tractor. I'm about 20 miles south of PA line. We can't complain though - we have it good compared to the the folks up north.

Yesterday we had 0 degrees blowing snow and just plain nasty stay home weather. Attempted to organize the shop. Had to move a WD40 diesel. Took two times around with the crank antd took right off. I was amazed

Fired up the 40 model 9N yesterday. Drug a middle buster through the garden plot. Time to get the onions, carrots, etc. in the ground. Yesterday was 82 degrees. That is why I live this far south. Tonight it's 67. Had to put long pants on.

all my gas tractors have started fine but the diesels have to be plugged in for a few hours before i even think about using them. ( i don't care for using ether that much) but if they are pluged in they pop right off. hyds and stering are always cold but if you let 'em warm up for a while they are fine. some of the subjects people have brought up about make me wanna punch people. almost makes me wanna not look at eh site anymore but it's just too hard to resist!
