Looking to buy WD. $500. homemade 3-point conversion, weather-checked tires, half an hour from my house. newer rear rims, haven"t heard it run but looks good, should I buy?

I am trying to find the serial number to verify that it is a WD but I can't seem to find them. One number on the side of the engine is WD294502PA. The website says left differential brake housing... Do I have to take the tire off or look underneath... My Dad has both a WD and a WD-45. What's the difference physically?
