Low compression + burned oil

My JD2010 has sometimes really little power, exhaust a lot light blue smoke and from the cylinder head outlet a lot of white smoke.
The measured compression is really low 70-50-60-50psi.
3 from 4 spark plugs are oily and black, one (1st cyl.) is good/brown.
So far refurbished the carb, checked and adjusted ignition, new oil, cleaned/replaced all filters.
Look like there's more work to do.
Suggestions? Where to start? In what order to proceed?
Valve clearance check/adjustments?
Valve or cylinder head overhaul?
New piston rings?

Any experience and recommendation is appreciated.

You could put an ounce (or more) of ATF into each cyl. and let it set for a few days. You may have something as simple carboned up rings and valves. Given the age, I suspect not. BUT, check the compression after the thing has set for awhile. Crank the engine over before you test, it will make a mess (easy to clean) and keep your tester viable. Hope I got this right and it is a gas engine. ;^)

Oh the woes of a 2010 owner . You could start by finding some fool to actually buy it from you . It needs a sleeve deck and new pistons, oil pump, rod and main bearings etc. . These are the top of the line John Deere money pit. There is no end; best advice I can give is to get a stick of dynamite down the exhaust . Sorry to be so sarcastic but I worked at a dealer for 40 yrs. and everybody ran the other way when one came in .

Maybe able to limp along with straight weight 50 low ash motor oil with the two stroke Detroit diesel rating of SF-2.
A 195F thermostat will assist in keeping the engine warm enough to burn clean. Operating too cold without a stat or shutters causes rapid cylinder bore wear.

Gas engine? A leak down test could diagnose where the compression is leaking on each cylinder: past the rings, intake valve, exhaust valve or into the coolant.
