M Farmall compression

I would like to know how much difference a LP head makes on M farmalls (horsepower). I have Tisco step-head pistons and sleeves for a 450 in my M (Bored block to do it) and a 400 Gasoline head on it. I've had Dennys do the cam (fairly mild grind) I've done carb, dist, and governor to match. I have 160psi compression, in all 4 cyl. I would like to be higher, and would like to either find higher compression pistons, or a LP head. If the head would do it, great. I would like to keep it as a runner, that is why it is not stroked, reliability is main thing. If someone can help me with the info, I'd sure appreciate it. Thanks

fifteen horsepower gain with the propane head over a stock gas m head. you will be able to use 93 octane gas with a propane head and your step head pistons.

that seems a little low. I put mine together about 3 or 4 yrs ago, with Tisco step head pistons and a gas head and use it regularly for working and pulling. after it was run for about 20 hrs or so, the compression settled where it is at, and never varied since. Always even across cyls. Just wanted a little more (Aint it always the same story)

Get a 450 camshaft. Use the other one for a door stop. Will be a night and day difference. ChadS www.thetractorshop.com
