M-H 333 Shifter

I have a 333 that the shift lever raises easy and creats a lock up between gears. By pulling the lever out , by removing the snap ring ,and iserting a srewdriver, or ?? to put all into neutral again , and reinstalling. Do I Weld onto ball on end machining off round,??? As shows ware there or ?? Any other ideas out there????

Rusty: Your shift lever should not lift up, is there a cup under the snap ring to hold the lever down ? If cup is there and it moves up when you pull up on lever, shim it down to eleminate free play. Hope this helps you. Don Snyder
