Im working on small projects for my M while its cold outside, currently working on my seat, i need a new seat back and was wondering how its attached. Mine had a back on it one side had a bolt and the other side is welded. it looks like the back should be rivited on is this correct? can i replicate that or should i just bolt it on?
thanks

It an umbrella holder, not quite sure how it works. i have taken it off and need to clean it up and see if i can get it working. I have been using electrolysis with great results. so far i have the seat support/toolbox done and painted, have the seat frame soaking and have the fenders to go in next.

That piece of pipe coming out the top of your umbrella holder looks like the remains of a previous umbrella. Loosen the top clamp, remove the stub, and you"ll have a place for a complete umbrella.

The M seat backs that I have are riveted on, 2 to a side. When replacing a back, I use straight-slot screws with almost flat heads, and loctite the nuts.

The seat backs appear to be riveted on both sides with 2 rivets.

Repair you seat back as it suits your needs.
