M&W Wheels???

I have some odd front wheels on my 1936 John Deere A. I recently saw the same thing on Craigslist and he called them M&W wheels. Does anyone know more about these? Thanks, Gary

Frist they are not M&W wheel m&w never any like that and no they are not fore duals they are i think Kay Bryner wheels they were sold after the war to replace spokes there are may differant combos the can be made with theres wheel a far as spacing

Not for duals for changing width. You flip the wedges to the outside thus widening the space between tires. Don't know who made them.

They are F&H--I have a set just like that on a '37 A JD. The other poster is right, they are adjustable for width between the tires. I have heard they were used mainly in land where listers were common. The tires on mine are sort of "beveled" with flat diamond tread faces that lay flat on the ground, when in the narrow position. I have been told that when used on lister ridges, you turn them around, so the tires will straddle a lister ridge. I also have a NOS pair, with the same tread pattern, sealed in a plastic garbage bag, in my basement. Found them at the "Ageless Iron show held near Ankeny, IA, a number of years ago. The guy I bought them from, (I think Miller tire), said I was the only person he had talked with who had seen an "old original" set.

If it were me I'd keep those on for the sake of more rare. They are made for the age, and a good conversation piece at tractor shows.

F&H made some of the rear wheels for Deere. They also made the steering wheels for '39 H's.
I would keep those.

Nothing more complicated than 3-way adjustable F&H wheels . Commonly called " lister " or " Nebraska " wheels . Neat period correct accessory wheels . I have a set on an unstyled B that is listed as being shipped less wheel equipment . Perfect excuse to use them .

If yours are Goodyears they should look like these . 5.50X16 and are NOS . These came out of a Goodyear warehouse in OK 30 years ago . The guy that sold them to me called them " lister " tires . Also got some knobby tires and some old Redline tires there .
