We sold some used equip. in Canada.What is needed to haul it to them.Has anyone done this recently.Thanks.

The big thing w/ moving used equipment(ag or industrial) in either direction across the border is that it be clean of all soil and organic matter. It needs to be thoroughly power washed as it will be inspected by Agr. Dept.
After clearing that inspection it is simply a matter of having a bill of sale and other relevant paper work.$50. spent on a customs broker is a good investment. The days of playing stupid are over. There are no duties, but like most government offices, there are fees for each of the processes. The easy way is to hire one of the many jockies who do this every week, but if you are up for a bit of an adventure do it yourself....its not that bad a process. Oh yeah, new rules require that customs have 2-4 hours advance notice of shipments arriving at border.Good luck.

Have someone from CANADA haul it as there are places to cross in ND and MONT where machinery goes back and forth on a daily basis. You didnt say where and where its going nor whats being hauled.

I have hauled used golf carts to fishing camps in Ontario (one each yr). They use them for hauling cleaning supplies from cabin to cabin. The only thing Canadian Customs have been interested in is the price the Canadian buyer paid for it. I show them the seller"s sales slip, they then charge a total of 15% taxes (one is 8% and other is 7%), I have to pay that in cash, and I"m good to go. Yes, they have used carts in Canada, but my b-i-l runs a golf course and he gets great deals on good carts that retired people finally give up.
