Great to see that these machines are being saved.. Over the last few years, I have seen some nice old iron get hauled to the scrap yard. Since we no longer have the capability to make big machines, I think we need to save all the old iron that can still be rebuilt. There will come a day that we will regret not saving and rebuilding many more of them.. They are vital to our national defense.

Several weeks ago, I was practically given a very nice, late-model Moore Jig Borer... It is like new, with a current model DRO, and from my tests, it still has "tenth" accuracy.. Several people laughed and said it is obsolete, but I can guarantee you I will make some $$ using it, and it is paid for...

I ran one like this for several years,They call them a mill but really they are a VTL, vertical turret lathe. The one i ran had a 8 ft table on it

Really inpressive. Around Detroit, the VTL's used to be called Bullards, regardless of maker. I remember running a little #2 Kearney & Trecker horizontal mill, about 35 years ago. I worked in 4 different tool & die shops, and they are all gone.

The pictures are very interesting. Could you tell me how you polish turn tables and ways and
chucks on the lathes?

I loved your website! I'm a maintenance tech, and I cut my teeth working on old Cincinnati centerless grinders, and Jones and Lamson and Oloffson lathes. I work at a different plant now,but boy do I miss working on that stuff! Thanks!!
