Mahindra tractors?

Any body use this brand of tractor. They come with a lot of features standard verses the other brands. Salesman was good at his job, said they have been in business since the 40s. They seem to be well made tractors.

I would do a small test... Look up the model number of a Mahindra tractor that would be about twenty years old.. Then go into that dealership and and ask for a head gasket set, front wheel hub seals, radiator hoses and a clutch....


Find out how soon the parts will arive, the cost, and the shop charges to install them..

If the answers you receive are not acceptable; shop elsewere..... If they can provide reasonable, prompt service on a twenty year old tractor, they should be ok to buy a new one from.

They are not all that common in our neck of the woods, but I have only heard good about the Mahindra tractors, and it seems that bad news travels ten times faster than good..

Remember, even the best machine is only as good as the service and parts support..

Some of the Mahindra tractors are based on the International Harvester B275 and B414 farm tractors that were new in the early 60s. They've gotten updated sheet metal and engines but are 80% original. Some other Mahindra models are completely new.

Mahindra has certainly been around a long time and has made some very rugged equipment. And, if I drive down to my Case-IH dealer to buy factory parts for my old IH B275, most come across the counter in Mahindra boxes. So, I assume they've been pretty good with parts support.

I thought about Mahindra, but the nearest dealer went out of biz. That would concern me a bit, having a dealer go out on ya.

I can not find any bad feedback for the tractors other than the nit picky people. Seems like a good tractor looking at the specs.

i bought a Mahindra 6000 3 years ago...it was a '02 model with 147 hours on it...i've got close to 500 hours on it now and all i've done to it is change oil/fluids and replaced battery...its a workhorse...the standard loader is built by Great Bend...Mahindra comes into Port of Houston and biggest dealer in US is in San Antonio...Bill's Tractor...i've called them with different questions and have always gotten friendly help...they've told me anything i need is a day away unless i come pick it up.
thing that sold me on the Mahindra over the usual brands is shear weight and the fact that body work was all steel...this last cold snap tractor started at 14* with no starting aids...it has glow plugs but i was so used to it starting without them i forgot to let them heat up...by time i remembered,tractor was running...somebody made the remark i was married to tractor because nobody would buy it second hand...thats fine with me...this tractor has been better to me than any of my ex's.

when international shut down the small tractor factory in India, the government bought it out and it became mahindra. so early mahindras had international part numbers on the cases for many years..

are the great? no. are they ok?? yes just like the very plane-jane small internationals that they came from. Not a spetacular tractor but ok. later mahindra started upgrading them and adding modern features that they greatly needed.
