(quoted from post at 09:52:30 04/18/15) Knees are worse than hips...they bleed more. My first hip I was on crutches, walker, etc., for about 6 weeks. Had up to 19 daily exercises, did them for 6 months. Hip is perfect. Other one shot now, flared up a week ago, I could hardly walk with a cane. VA scheduled cortisone in May, I went to civilian dr yesterday, got happy pills, Monday I"m looking into replacement, either VA or civvy. Cortisone would delay surgery 2 months...I"m ready as soon as my fields are planted.
My surgeon told me knee replacement is the worst because they dismantled the knee then rebuild it. I was told up to a year for full recovery. Good luck with thr hip. Guy that retired from the army the same day I did was a dedicated runner. Did PT in the morning then ran 6-7 miles every night. About a month before we retired he went on sick call because of a hip. Got told his was wore out, he needed both and that he should stop running. He was devastated! No running.
I wound up with typical "tankers" knees. Between the daily PT runs and climbing and jumping off the tanks, plus a couple of knee injuries got me where I'm at today. It, cool, I earned every ache and pain. Just wish VA had been better about dealing with the problem.
Sounds about right for knees. Wife had hers done, and it was about a year later before she could bend it enough to get on the motorcycle.
