Massey 135 position control lever problems

I"ve been having trouble with my 135"s position control lever getting out of place. It was missing the spring so I got that ordered and put on, but when I put it back together and try to work the position control it doesn"t work and the lever is out of place again. To better clarify, the lever looks like a capital "L" that is layed down on its side. The roller is supposed to ride on the long part, but it is actually riding on the short part. Has anybody else had this problem? Is the lever bent or worn? Thanks for any help, Matt

Hi,
There are two levers in the linkage referred to in MF-speak as the 'dog' and the 'giraffe'.
Check again, the lever for the position control action is the 'dog'. Look carefully at the lever. Halfway along the upper side you will see a small hole. There should be a fine coil spring between here and the mating part of the roller linkage. I suspect that this spring is missing or broken. Alternately any part of the linkage may be bent.
