Massey 35 steering wheel problem

Hi all, don"t know much about computers hope you get this....know even less about tractors! My father"s Massey 35 was his Cadillac. My father is gone now but we are trying to repair his beloved tractor. Have come across a problem with the new steering wheel, my brother says the shaft on the new wheel is a straight barrel and the original male shaft on the tractor is a cone shape, causing a wobble in the new steering wheel. Anybody come across this? What did you do? What can be done thanks, Sandra.
