massey 555d

Just bought a 555d should be a runner. These are quite rare I guess. The parts are the same as the 55d I heard. What are the differences?

The basic differences were the 555 had a different colour scheme engines were bronze instead of red, horse power was upped from 60 to72 on pto and power steering was standard , only 4000 - 555,s were built not sure how many were diesels.They used the same 4-speed transmission.

That was 4000 divided between gas , lp and diesel. If that means if a total two thousand that is rare.
The sheet metal on any 55 should fit???

Grills and hoods were different. The triple series came with a small door in the front of the hood for access to the radiator cap. The grills on the triples had the addition of a chrome ornament and chrome strip down the center of the grill. The rest of the sheet metal is similar. Just be careful as there were different varieties of rear platforms and fender assemblies. There were also some variations on the fuel tanks.

You are correct , it does have a hood ornament.
it also has a cab that looks factory. Is that a MH or after market?

If you think they are rare then I have one for sale I would let go for less then scrap price if someone is going to restore it.
