massey ferguson 300 combine---engine problem

I have a massey ferguson 300 combine and when the engine gets hot and you shut it off it will not start up again. It will start fine when the engine is cold. If you do shut it off when its hot you can come back an hour later and it will start right up. Any solutions would be highly appreciated.

Capacitors behave like that also. A capacitor is the easier to test. Take it out and run the engine through one cycle. BE AWARE runing without the capacitor will age the breaker points really fast, Only one cycle.
However, with that said I usually think fuel problems when they won't re-start. When they DIE and won't start I think ignition.

I had one that did that. Fought it for two years. Come to find out the ceramic resister was cracked and broke the coil inside. Cold, start. Hot, no start. Changed resister and no problem after that. LE

sounds like a classic case of vapor loc due to todays poor fuel. next time it does it cool the carburetor fuel filter and fuel pump with a rag soaked in cold water...if it starts up you have fuel boiling in one or all of the three areas. Had the same problem on a VW beetle, fuel pump would get hot and vapor lock , cooled it down with a wet rag, and away I went.....Good luck Shawn
