I have a Massey Ferguson 135 diesel serial # 9A I32274 and I can't find any place that has much info based on serial #. Can you tell the year or model by the serial #? The lists I can find only go to 1975 yet I find that some were built in 1976 and maybe 1977. Is there a good site to get serial # detail?

I was hoping to be able to get more model info. There were orchard models I believe and delux and standard. Also I would like to know what the mechanical changes were over the years of production. Is there any site with this kind of detail?

UK models were built up to 79. US models only till 75. They made improvements to UK models from 1971 on. A 135 diesel is a superb tractor no matter what year it is. Dave

I"ve accumulated just about every piece of sale literature, every manual, and every conceivable magazine add from the years when the DX series (100 series) was in developement and production. The best source for accurate info on model variants is the sales brochures and one piece I have, a dealers sales primer that describes the differences and how to target potential customers with advantages of certain models.

The 135 Standard was actually the dressed up model. The 135 special was an economy model. No live power, metal pan seat, when they were equipped with Continental 4-cylinder gas engines, the special had a smaller Z134 as opposed to the standards Z145, and all-round less "bells and whistles". The orchard model was distinguished mainly by the "square axle" rear end more common to the 165.
