Thanks to everyone for the help. It does charge when full fielded, no inline fuse, so looks like the regulator is the culprit! Thanks again.

Before shelling out the cash for a new regulator, be aware that two terminals on the regulator (besides the "F" terminal) have to have voltage to them before the regulator will "kick in", and send power to the alternator's "F"ield.

I don't have a diagram, "at hand' to tell you which terminals, though!

Also, you can try (battery disconnected) removing the cover from the cutout, and shining up the field relay and voltage regulator contact points with a clean white piece of cardstock, followed be a shot of (dry) compressed air to get rid of any "lint" from the paper.

Put the cover back on the regulator BEFORE connecting the battery back up.

Some have said maybe the pressure switch. You can test that by getting it running and taking a screwdriver or such and jumpering the terminals. Just one more test before spending $$. Sure sounds like the reg though. Let us know.

There were AG /industrial regulators for machines with an ammeter that only needed power to @2 terminal. If your regulator has been replaced with one designed to work with a charge light, you then need to power both terminals #2 and #3. to make it work.
