Massy 101???

Hey guys Im more of a farmall guy but a friend is selling an Farmall H and also a Massy 101a as he said...I tried to look it up but there seems to be no such thing...it has a 6 cylinder cont. flat head if that helps...regardless he offed it to me for 600 bucks and the thing runs great...tin isnt bad but is missing grille and side shields but has fenders that are in good shape...I think Im gonna get the H but I figured I might just get the other tractor just because I like the way it sounded...is 600 fair??...I havnt any idea on if it rare of what its worth...I believe its like a 1944...any help would be appricated!...thanks

1976 Fel-Pro catalog lists (under Massey Harris Ferguson)"...101,101JR (Truck), 101JR (Canadian) Truck..." but they all show with various Cont 4"s...(1930 catalog shows a Massey Harris 4cyl Truck...did they produce or sell trucks in Canada?)
Later catalogs show a 100, and a 102, but no 101 or 101A.
I"ll go thru some older stuff in morning, and post if I find anything.
Ah,wait: 1965? Fitzgerald shows, under Massey Harris Tractors (along with the 101"Jr""s with the Cont 4"s) a 101 "Sr", 1943-46, with a Cont F226, a flat head 6 (1939-42 models had a Dodge engine).
Maybe that"s your baby, but keep in mind these old catalogs almost always incomplete. Good luck.

Could be a 101SR which would have that engine in it. If it was a crysler engine it would be a 101 super both had 6 cylinders in them

There's a nice history of Massey Harris and Ferguson on sunnybrookfarmmuseum.com,that refers to the 101 having a number of variations, and another on Wikipedia that covers more of the later corporate convulsions.

Hi,

Nebraska tests 306,307,318 and 359 have some data on the 101s. They show the four cylinder to be a Continental and the six cylinder to be a Chrysler.

It is a 101 Senior. I would say the price is right if it runs at all! check the Ser# against the list available on this site and you can determine the year. They were built from "42 to "46. Usual engine is the 226 Continental but some disillate burners had a 244.

If you are still interested in selling the F226 engine please let me know. I am presently rebuilding what I think is a 1944 Massey Harris 101 SR or a 1952 series 44-6 Massey. Crank is damaged and unable to find a replacement. Serial number of the engine is FA226G145707, not sure if the 6th digit from the end (1) is correct as the tag is very worn.
