Im trying to get the master pins out of track to undo chains. Itseems pretty tight. Is there an easy
way to do this ie Heat & a bigger sledge hammer if so how much heat is ok and do I have to remove one
or both pin Thank you
any imformation would be appreciated . Rob

If you can removed the master pine with out fire it be better and need removed just the master becase the master boushing shortly then the other one

Sometimes heat is the only way to get master pins out, apply the heat to the eyes of the link and not the pin, have a decent drift (punch) and a 14lb sledge hammer, get both eyes red,you need to make up a drift like the one in the picture,a piece of bar with a handle welded to it,have a second person to hold it,when putting in the pins use the drift as hitting the pin directly will swell it,use eye protection when working on tracks as there is lots of hard metal that can splinter.

If your sprocket has holes in it like a JD420 you can use threaded rod and plates to make a jig to use a bottle jack. Weld a piece of shaft to the jack and push the pin into a piece of pipe on the inward side. That's how I've done mine.
