Maximum width of tractor

What is the advantage to having the tires maxed out in width, as to having them say, turned in? Also for the sake of knowing, would be pulling 4000lb-6500lb range.

Reasons for narrow... easier fit on trailer... wider tread will pull front end of tractor to side much easier (when on tire spins on one side while other side grabs, maybe an important consideration on a fast/open tractor vs. a slow/1st gear puller)

reason for wider tract tire.... with tires wide, you won't build dirt up in front of a narrow pan on sled.
