McCormick tractors

Does anyone know the differance between McCormick and CaseIH tractors? I am looking at a McCormick CX95 and a Case IH 95 and at first glance they look exactly the same.

They are the same tractor.Only with different paint and decals.

If you are looking at a CX95 CIH and a CX 95 McCormick??? They are similar but not exactly the same. The McCormick has a Perkins motor and the CIH has a Cummins/CIH motor. I would stick with the CIH over the McCormick one.

I am not sure what the long term future of McCormick is going to be. They sold the factory and tooling from the Dorchester England plant. The last series built there was the XTX series. McCormick sold that tooling and manufacturing rights to the Russia company, KamAZ, in 2006. They moved production to a Landini plant in Italy.

The earlier McCormicks where well received here in the US but the newer models have not been as good. I haul feed on several farms that have both old and newer models of the McCormick tractors. Mainly CIH guys that wanted to save some money on a simple tractor. The early ones where just that, a simple tractor. The newer ones have been changed to a more sophisticated computerized tractor. I think the Landini influence is starting to show. They want to be able to run with the HIGH tec Fendt type of tractor in the European market. The newer ones have been headache over here. The guys I am seeing with them are saying that the newer McCormick will be the last they buy. Many computer and transmission problems. Pricey to repair and many of the McCormick dealers here in the US are not equipped to handle a high tec tractor.

McCormicks sold well here because they where a simple dependable tractor. That was their niche. They sold through many smaller implement dealers not full line tractor dealers. So many of these dealers do not have the knowledge and personal to work on the newer models very well.

I would not bet that McCormick will survive long term in the US market. They have lost their niche. Then in the high tec market they don't have the quality to compete with the big boys. A lot of their customers around here are looking at Massey Ferguson to be their next tractor.

The CX McCormick tractor is a simple tractor as is the CIH. So the machine is not an issue the company is. So unless the price difference is really great and you plan on keeping it forever I would go with the CIH. CIH is a much larger company and should be around longer.

Around here its dealer support. The Mccormick dealer is great to work with. Hes personally delivered two tractors to me. The case new holland dealers just could care less after its sold. Even if the tractors are identical Id ask around (farmers) who has the best service between the dealers.

McCormick purchased Case in Doncaster England and Case joined with New Holland AG in the European Union.McC acquired some of the Case IH rights... see history in Wikipedia.

A friend with a repair shop had one in recently and getting trans. parts took a long time.Not sure of the details but he was not impressed and is not in a hurry to work on any more.

No such tractor as a CaseIH CX95.

The CX series from Case IH were CX50 through CX100 (no "5")

The CX95 McCormick is an improved version of the old CIH tractors, you could get the 24x24 3 speed power shift & power shuttle.

A CaseIH JX95, Farmall 95 or Farmall 95U are NOT the same tractors as a McCormick
