McCormick trailer made for a Cub

Hi everybody, I recently purchased a 1950 farmall cub from
someone and they said they have a McCormick trailer that
was made to go with the Farmall cub specifically. Does
anybody know if thats actually the case or if its just a
general utility trailer made by McCormick. Hes asking
$1000 for it, looks like it would be a nice little utility trailer
around the farm but not sure if its worth it. If it was actually
meant for the cub, it would be a nice usable piece to go with
my farmall collection.

Its been modified if it is the IH trailer, but I dont recall a 729. 629 yes, but not a 729. Not saying there isnt one. All of the Cub railers Ive seen have sides that are part of the trailer, and none had diamond plate floors. even those werent going for more than $300 - $400.

The seller is a graduate of the ..Academy of Leg Pullers.. not built by IH. That serial number plate lettering is to ..modern looking.. and is nothing like any official plate attached during manufacturing. Never seen one without the company name and at least ..Chicago, IL.. or the location of the plant of origin.

I've seen several ' cub trailers ' that doesn't appear to be one. The real McCoy in good, original condition can and will sell for $1000.

It is not the original "Cub 2-wheel trailer", which had 12-inch sides built into it. I believe it is an IH trailer. Model 729 seems to be hard to find anything about. All of the silk-screened information on the tag is worn off, as is often seen on IH tags. The Company information as all screened on with only model and serial number stamped in.

By the way, I don't think IH actually built any of the small trailers. The original was FOB Ft. Dodge, Iowa.

I will have to say that the dump latch mechanism looks
to be an original configuration, so maybe it is partly an
original IH. Still he is really trying to pass it off for
something that it no longer is.

We had a brand new one of those trailers, came with a 53 Super C decked out with a planter, cultivator, loader, two bottom plow, fast hitch mower and rear blade

I've never seen another one of those trailers.

Thanks for all the input everyone! Sounds like I should pass on it. It would probably be a nice little trailer but the price seems steep for the condition and bad tires.

The Cub trailer Grandpa Love posted pics looks similar to
a Cub Cadet Model 10 trailer. CC trailers are white and
the 10 has a diamond plate floor, just like the Mccormick
models posted. I will look harder at the ones in Rantoul
next week. Being a Cub trailer would explain them being
painted red.
