md or 450 diesel head

Is there a difference in a md or super md & 400-450 diesel heads whats the difference and which ones make more power?

They all used two different head numbers 260869R51 0r 277098R11.

MD started out with 4 digit # head and going up to 450 the last heads were # 277098. They changed the heads maybe a dozen times to try and improve them. Don't know about which may perform better. Also the head gasket was changed along with water jacket holes in head along the way.
Think they changed head 8228 6 times and head 260869 5 times. If I remember right late engines had a little more compression, but don't know if from head or the bigger bore they used, since a bigger bore will raise compression just a little with no other changes.

Forgot to add that since there is no combustion chamber in heads when on diesel they probably don't make any difference in compression.

Did they use taller pistons or flat tops or dished for the MD, SMD,400,450? The M&W kit for these what was the difference? What is a good runnig HP range for a super MD? What can i do for more power, would this pull better in 6000 or 7000 class? Would this do better than a stock m or SM?
