RANDY UNDERWOOD OWNS IT NOW TRACY REDD HAD IT IN MIDDLE TN BEFORE THAT . I WAS JUST GOING BY WHAT JACK TOLD HIM IT WAS RUNNING HE OPERATES THE SLED.(quoted from post at 10:41:06 08/28/08) where is down here at?? i thinkyour are talking about east tn?? well I'VE NOT SEEN that 77 your talking about. you have better drop the mph a little bit for the one your talking about.
 youre right on target a 292 chevy engine can make 300 hp easy and was a agriculture use engine . 292 s are capable of 500 to 1000 hp if turbo but i still think the cross flow head would outflow a stock 292 head and i know the 1850 block will go alot bigger in the cubic inch department(quoted from post at 17:28:24 08/28/08) One horsepower per cubic inch isn"t that big a deal if you can run open RPM"s and pick the correct engine (enough flow and strength) to start with. Back in the 60"s just about any high performance engine worth it"s salt was rated at just under or over one horsepower per cube in the muscle cars of the era in a factory street able configuration. Race engines (naturally aspirated) did substantially better.
Move forward to the 21 century and you find 350 cube NASCAR engines making over 2 horsepower per cubic inch using a single limited CFM carb in the 8000 to 9000 rpm range.
Now I am not saying this tractor is or isn"t making the horsepower number being thrown around, but I wouldn"t be in a hurry to bet my paycheck against it without a lot more to go on...
