MF 135 Fuel System

Please don't laugh. Should a Z134 Continental Gas 4 cyl. engine have an inline fuel filter. I've yet to find one other than the sediment bowl. Also, where is the fuel pump? Does gravity simply allow fuel to flow to the carb? Thanks for all your help.

What you see is all there is. A fine filter takes a fuel pump to overcome the restriction. A good car filter in a gravity system starves the engine if it lets it run at all. There is a screen above the sediment bowl, another as a part of the sediment bowl, and another at the carburetor inlet.

Gravity works and doesn't break down like a fuel pump which can leak and add gasoline to the crankcase destroying bearings.

There may be a screen in the fuel inlet elbow at the carb.
Yes, most of these small machines are gravity flow with no fuel pump.

Thanks, that makes sense. I just have so little experience with this type of engine it's all new to me. I've ordered a carb kit so that'll be my next project.
