MF 165 Diesel quit running

On my last pass while discing for a food plot my MF 165 Diesel just shutdown, no sputter just quit, like I pulled the shutdown. I checked there is fuel in the tank, fuel going to the injector pump and fuel coming out of the pump. Although it is just light spurts, I don't know how strong of a surge is supposed to be coming out going to the injectors. I'm sure there is more pressure when the line is attached. Any trouble shooting steps I can do to figure this out would be appreciated. Unfortunately it broke down on the back 40 and I don't have a second tractor to pull it back to the barn with so I have to do this in the field. Thanks for any help.

When was the last time the fuel filter/s were changed? How did they look? How clean is the inside of the fuel tank? Several years ago the 245D died suddenly and wouldn't restart until I used the lift pump. It ran for about 7 minutes and died again. Pulled it back to the house and pulled the filter, it looked like a buzzard had thrown up in it! Still wouldn't start so I pulled the fuel line from the tank, almost completely stopped up with tiny pieces of rust. Pulled the fuel tap, same problem. Cleaned it all out and it started right up. Another possibility is the lift pump died or clogged up, assuming the injection pump is still good. Sadly the pump could have died and you'll be needing to contact Dieseltech. Good Luck with it.

Loosen the first bleeder on the pump and crank engine, a solid stream should blow out. If it doesn't show a solid stream, you have fuel delivery issues in the system. Make sure the shutoff rod didn't jump out of the lever on the pump and flip to the off position, I have had this happen.
