MF 165 Heavy Knocking in PTO

Hello Guys

I've been doing a bit of mowing with the 165 and a UFO mini twin drum mower. Everything is running fine generally and while while mowing, and I recently adjusted the PTO clutch.

Very occassionally after having engaged the PTO and either when releasing the clutch/selecting the forward gear thwere is a very heavy knocking noise from the clutch/transmission area. Quite alarming I can tell you !!

Anythoughts on what this might be and what I'm doing wrong or have to fix ??

Cheers - Foster

Hi Foster,
I take it that you have the clutch pedal height sorted now and your crew are happy.
I think that the knocking that you are hearing
is due to the release arms going too far forward and hitting the rivet heads on the PTO plate. With the engine at idle press the pedal very slowly until you start to hear the noise. Back off a little and it should stop. If this is it you need to adjust at the pedal a little so that it can be pressed fully. When adjusted, if you do not have good PTO engagement you will need to reduce the clearance on the three PTO adjusters on the flywheel slightly.
