MF 1745 Round Baler Problems

We are having an issue getting the hydraulic tension system working. We have had one cylinder rebuilt and replaced the bale density valve. The rebuilder said there was nothing wrong with the cylinder, so we are in the "throw parts at it" state instead of trying to diagnose what is actually wrong.

We connected a pressure gauge to point D and opening and closing the tailgate shows a constant zero pressure. We then connected the pressure gauge to point C per the manual and it peaks at 400 PSI.

OK, so we need more fluid. The manual explains how to add oil from the tractor by disconnecting the density cylinders from the mechanical linkage for the tailgate, then connecting one of the cylinders at C and D to a tractor remote.

We did this and we were able to fully extend both density cylinders but when we reversed the flow to retract the cylinders the hose kept popping off the connector on the baler at point C. We ended up having to force the cylinders back down manually and bleed off some fluid.

None of this helped.

We also have a problem of the pressure gauge blowing off as well.

So it seems we have two problems:
  1. What connectors/hose to get to stop it blowing off hose/gauge
  2. What is wrong with the system - still too little oil? Blockage? How to diagnose?
Thanks, Andy

You might want to post in the main section or the implement section. I believe that baler was a rebranded item from another baler manufacture.
