MF 35 Am I missing something?

I was asked to move this thread to the MF forum. I recently purchased a MF35 from an auction. From what I’ve gathered from this and other sites is that judging by the S/N I have a 1964 standard gas version with multi power. I think something is missing. The tractor will hold its position on a hill in both high and low range. I see nothing removed that would indicate it has multi power.

miner09 posted the multipower lever is missing. It belongs in the open slot, pictures below. Your description of it not rolling backwards when the clutch is pushed going uphill is something high Multipower does, the straight gear transmissions will not do that.

Did you go to the links I gave you and download the manuals I found? I agree they don't give great detail in the service manual, so you have to use the manuals with the parts book. The page I clipped out below is from the Operator's manual and shows the Multipower lever. The drawing in the parts book shows the pieces to look for. My hope is someone here that follows this forum might have missed your thread on the Tractor& Farm Talk forum and will be able to provide you some actual pictures of their 35 Multipower linkage. I would but I don't have a 35 to take pictures of. I am still looking for better pictures showing the linkage.

Take a couple pictures looking straight from the sides into the area under the sheet metal down to just below the top of the transmission case, from the rear of the steering box to the back of the engine. We may be able to spot and point out some of the linkage of the multipower to help you.

I’m sorry, I wasn’t insinuating anything by saying I was told. I was just trying to post it in the correct location. I really appreciate all your help, I’m just really stumped. I was able to download the service manual, but not the owners manual I will try and get more pictures and post them.

No problem.

No need to be stumped. I believe your tractor has the "innards" for the Multipower from your hill holding description. You are missing the lever and likely some other linkage pieces. I think I found some pictures to help you I will post later.

Here are some pictures. The name plate is a bit different from what yours would be as seen by the screw locations. I don't have a picture of behind the dash, but these pictures along with the drawing in the parts book should let you figure out what is missing. Pictures 5 and 6 show diesel fuel filters but you will be looking in behind those for where the linkage goes into the housing to work the multipower valve. Pics 1-4 should get you from the dash to 5 and 6.

Get a good light and start looking if needed take some good pictures in those areas and may be someone can spot something to help you.
