I bought a MF 360 a while back, the left brake gave out and a little later the right one give out. Both pedals go all the way down. I can bleed them but it only helps for a little while, the master cylinder has been replaced with a new one. Does anyone have any ideas how to fix them ? Thanks in advance.

One caution, and possible reason for problems: The
360 takes a special kind of brake fluid. I won't
be able to get back til first of week but someone
may know. DO NOT put ordinary fluid in it. Your
dealer should be able to help you as I can't
remember without looking back what it is called.

The 300 series tractors supplied into the Aussie market, uses a MINERAL brake fluid. This may be what chuck41 is talking about. Using standard dot 4 brake fluid will cause the master cylinder and slave cylinder cups to swell and fail.
Could be your problem if you have used the wrong fluid.

I have a MF375, Slightly bigger, but similar. My owners manual is calling for "Mineral-based brake fluid ONLY." M-F part no. 3405389 MI or similar approved fluid. Regular fluid will swell the seals. Hope this helps.

Hello,
The fluid you should be using is LHM. It is probably classed by the same name your side of the pond. It is more than likely that the wrong oil has been added. The cap is normally green in colour with a warning. The slave cylinders are normally expensive. Providing that there is no rust or pitting in the bore it should be possible to reseal the cyls. Normally it is only a cup seal and spring. Take care undoing the brake pipes. From my own experience I would recommend that you do not even consider non-genuine seals. Had a lot of probs with a 595 and even supposedly 'genuine' new MF cylinders failed soon after fitting. They are only as genuine as someone else makes them.
