MF diesel indirect injection........

MF 65 a-203 engine.......

anything be done to boost that engine a little while in machine shop? Ever done anything to one?
which is better cast or chrome liners........?

If it is a 65 with an indirect diesel injection engine, are you sure it is a 203 and not a 192?

If you"re having it rebuilt, there"s probably no need to "boost the engine". More Hp might make problems in the engine itself or in the drive line. Stay stock and within the OEM"s specs for a rebuild.

I am sure someone such as David P from South Wales is better qualified to tell you the subtle difference between the two tractors, but I was always led to believe the earlier MF 65 Mk1 was fitted with an indirect injection diesel engine of 192 cubic inches capacity but the later Mk2. tractor was fitted with the 203 engine which had direct injection. I see a similar question has been asked before on this forum ( see link).

The mk1 has a wedge fitted in the rear of the sump/oil-pan, the mk2 has no wedge, just a plain flange fitting right up to the engine back-plate. Indirect injection heads have the injectors straight down and the direct injection has the injectors at about a 40 degree angle. The picture shows a repair (before grinding!) on the stop rod of a direct injection perkins 203 with the slanted injectors.

The 192 wasn't used in the U.S. The early American 65 diesels were 203 indirect injection.

Ah that is interesting! So presumably they would be termed A4.-203 not AD4.-203 ?

Thought that would get a reaction, the repair was BEFORE grinding!. This is it after grinding.This is a tractor belonging to AGCO /MF ,They have sent it from France to my place in Northern Ireland to be restored to as new condition. Small things like wear on linkages/rods are sometimes overlooked, but as they are no longer available I had to repair.

Hi,
The A4.192 engine fitted to the early 65's was an indirect injection....pretty much a four cylinder version of the A3.152. Two types of '203' engine were used; The A4.203 was an indirect injection with the injectors mounted vertically in the cylinder head.
The AD4.203 (four-cyl version of the AD3.152) had the injectors mounted on an angle off the axial line of the bore. I am not aware of any A4.203 engines in the UK.
