Had one of this series in my workshop a while back, for a transmission rebuild. Had done 8000 hours. It was the 8160. Guy loves the tractor, and uses it for haulout work on a sugar cane plantation. It had the Si-Su diesel power-plant and not the Perkins, purred like a kitten, very good on fuel and very good torque. He had no problems with the tractor up until then, since buying it off a wheat farm years back, with 5000 hours on it.
One area that can give trouble is the splined coupler situated in the flywheel, and the transmission input shaft. Being located in a "dry" compartment, these tend to "chop out" after time. Had the shaft built up and re-splined and fitted a new coupler.
Others may like to add to this,
Evan.

Same wear happens to 1100 series with high hours, but also have another coupler between trans and diff that can fail also. Fun part is when either one fails you can't find which one until tractor is apart.

I had one for several years with loader on it. I never had any problems at all, started easy in cold weather, good on fuel and lots of power. Hope this helps
