MF super 90 3 point hitch

I have a 1962 super 90 and the only way the 3 point hitch will work is with the auxillery lever and not the up and down and depth control levers.how can i make it work with the slide levers.

That sort of problem was quite common with that tractor. The best part of them by far was the Perkins engine. My father bought one new in 1961 and after a couple of years whatever could go wrong with it did with the exception of the engine. That thing was in and out of the shop so much it was ridiculous. Massey sure screwed up on that one.

Follow the instructions in the owners manual. They have an excellent 3pt hitch draft control system and hydraulic system if you follow the instructions. If you don"t have a manual order one or check flea bay. Money well spent.

There is a rotary knob valve mounted in the subbase below the auxiliary control valves. You need to turn it full out or full in to switch between the auxiliary control valves, or the quadrant levers that control the position and draft control. It sounds like this valve is set in the auxiliary control position. However, you have to have the position control quadrant lever in the auxiliary pumping position for the auxiliary control valves to work, then you take It out of auxiliary pumping position when using the quadrant levers for control.

Be sure not to over-tighten the rotary valve. There is a small pressure pin that holds the spool parts together, and if you over tighten the valve, it can shear the pin off, and your hydraulics won't work correctly. It's easy to fix though.
