MF135 hydraulics

My neighbor has a 135 with a problem and no internet, so I told him I would write up the qwestion for him and post it here.
His 135 3 point lift arms won't work unless he connects them to the accessory port. He has had the trans apart and can't find what the problem is. He has a service manual, but so far it hasn't been much help. A friend with a similar tractor / similar problem thinks there may be parts missing - a stand pipe?

Any ideas? We think it must be something missing in the valve, as the pump etc must be working, so somehow the flow isn't getting to the lift arms or the lift arm valve.

thanks for any/ all help / ideas!

cheers,
Creek

there are two bolts between your legs that house the standpipe, take them out of the little case on there and see if there is a pipe that goes down to the pump.

We pulled the cover and checked for the standpipe, it is there.

It's like the control valve isn't shunting the oil to the valve controling the lift arms. Hooking it up the accessory port is the only way to make it work.

Judging from the information i'm reading, someone had the lift cover off the tractor. The position control valve no longer controls the 3 point arms and you have to use the LH Aux Valve Lever to raise and lower the arms. If this is correct, then the cover was misassembled. The Hyd Pump Control Valve has an arm/fork that rises approx 3 inches above the pump. In the end of the arm/fork there should be a cylindrical roller. This roller must be removed before the lift cover it removed, otherwise it ends up in the bottom of the transmission. Now, there are two rods that drop down from the lift cover quadrent levers. One is the position control and the other is the draft control. These rods need to be positioned forward of the Control Valve Arm/Fork and roller. If one or both are positioned after the arm/fork, then the pump remains in constant pumping all the time and you loose all position control. To verify that this is the case, remove the RH step and round side cover off the transmission. You may want to drain a gallon or two of Hyd oil out, or it will leak through the lower mos cover bolt holes. You should be able to look in and see the Arm/fork and rods.

Thanks - we wiil take the cover off and have a look at the arms to see if they are correct. This sounds like a possibility.

thanks,
