MF135 identification

I've checked the archives but am still having problems identifying what year model my tractor is. Here is what the plate says on the side of the engine. The one on the instrument panel is unreadable. Fahrgestell-NR: FJ37399 It is a 135 deluxe multipower 3 cylinder perkins diesel with a foot throttle and hand breke with no foot locking break. It has a locking rear differetial. Thanks for the help.

Can you post pictures of the tractor from both sides? It sounds like it is a British built tractor to me.
Sam

It could be is a British built tractor. It says Massey Ferguson (UK) LTD. Coventry England and Mass Ferguson GMBH Kassel IESCHWEGE on the name plate. I'm not sure how to post pictures but I'll see what I can do.

Hi,
Only a few of the first 135's came out with the pedal locking latch, Our 1965 Coventry built one had the HB, foot throttle and the diff pedal was standard in the UK. Kassel is the location of MF's operations in Germany. It sounds like it was a UK made tractor that was exported to Germany and then on to wherever you are. How many bushings are there on the HB cross-shaft? What type of seat does it have?
As Sam has said, photos would help a great deal, sides and ends if you can.

On British built 135s the front axle was straight and fabricated from 1969,bent and cast before that. 65-67 had the rev counter in the middle of the dash ,moved to the right slightly afterwards. hand-brake was mounted with 3 bolts 65-67 2 bolts afterwards.. From approx '74 onwards the front grille was 14 inches deep and only 13 inches before, this was to facilitate a larger fuel tank.
Hope this helps you some!

The only picture I have for now. I will try and get better ones this weekend. This one my wife was more concerned about our son than the tractor so it probably isn't much help. The seat is an aftermarket I think. I'm not sure what the HB cross-shaft is but I'll google it and get back to you. Thanks for the help

What do you mean unreadable on the dash? The number should be stamped in the serial number plate. Regardless, it's a UK based 135 and there should be a date cast on the bottom of the oil pan near the front to give you an idea of the year. I think the FJ373399 is the serial number. Is the FJ spaced a little ways away from the numbers? My UK 135 (for Canada)has an F in front that stands for Multi-power. The J might have something to do with its German designation. I don't have my serial guide for UK handy but I think your tractor is a 1966.

From your pic the tractor is an early model that has been messed with! It is pre mid 1969 as it has the bent front axle, the front wheels are the french 4.00x19s or possibly 6.00x19s and the grille is American spec, though there is a possibility it was fitted to the German issued tractor if they didn't require lights. That is all I can tell from the picture.

Thanks for the help. It seems it was the 65-67 model because the hand brake has three bolts. The handel is locked up tight. It like the rest of the tractor is in need of some attention. I'll post more pictures now.

I guess I was trying to read the patent numbers. Someone in the past had installed a switch in the middle of the plate! Now I see the stamped in number on the dash plate. It is the same FJ 37899 as on the plate on the engine.

My 65 UK 135 (Canada) is a little different but overall very similar. I think the J in the serial number desiginates it as a special model for export to Germany. Did you look for the casting date on the oil pan?
