MF135 Manual Steering Problem

My MF135 has a lot of free play in the manual steering. The I&T Shop Manual shows several manual MF135 steering boxes, all have external adjustment. My box has no external adjustment, how do I take out the free play? There is a Welch plug each side of the sector gears but no adjustments.

My US MF-135 parts book which was printed after the last US made MF-135 was made shows only one manual steering gear box and it has the axial positioner bolts just like those in the power steering boxes. The gear segments are tapered so moving them endways adjusts the lash.

To add confusion to the issue, I know from a book I just read that MF-135 were made in the US, GB, France, Germany, and Spain for sure and for differing time periods with different engines and specifications. And versions from each of these factories was shipped all over the world, sometims outside of the factory distribution lanes. So it may be necessary to find out where your 135 was made in order to find details on the steering gear.

Thanks Gerard J for your reply. I live in Australia & I think most of our MF came from the UK.My Steering box doesn't have any external adjustment on the Sector gears to give it sideways movement to take up the lash. I am curious to know how it can be adjusted internally. My only hope is to completely dismantle it for a thorough examination, unfortunately a considerable amount of tractor dismantling is required I was hoping some one else in the world has the same steering box on their MF135 and can answer my problem before I start wrecking.
